About the Role
Prospero Teaching is seeking an experienced and passionate tutor with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) to join our Outreach Tutor program in St Helens. This role involves providing one-to-one tuition to students across a variety of subjects, including Maths, English, and Science, in their homes or local community settings. If you are passionate about helping students achieve their academic potential in a flexible, independent setting, this is the ideal opportunity for you to make a real impact on students’ educational journeys.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver one-to-one tutoring sessions in core subjects (Maths, English, Science, etc.) tailored to the individual needs of each student.
- Adapt teaching methods, resources, and lesson content to suit the learning styles and abilities of each student.
- Build a supportive and positive relationship with students to encourage academic growth and boost confidence.
- Monitor and track student progress, providing regular feedback to parents, carers, or professionals involved in the students' education.
- Develop and implement personalised learning plans that address each student's specific goals and challenges.
- Communicate effectively with students and their families, ensuring a collaborative and transparent approach to learning.
Essential Requirements
- Hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status).
- At least 1 year of experience teaching or tutoring in a one-to-one or small group setting.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
- Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience teaching or tutoring students at GCSE or Key Stage 3 level.
- Experience working with students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, etc.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and their families.
Additional Information
Sessions are generally scheduled during school hours, with some flexibility for after-school or evening sessions depending on student availability. This is a flexible role, providing the opportunity to work within your local community and support students in a setting that is most comfortable for them. Prospero Teaching will provide ongoing support, resources, and regular progress monitoring to help you succeed in your role.
