About the School
We are working with a welcoming and inclusive SEN secondary school in Rochdale that supports students aged 11-19 with a range of additional needs, including some Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) requirements. The school is committed to providing a nurturing, structured, and positive environment where every learner can achieve their potential. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting young people with special educational needs to make a meaningful difference every day.
What We're Looking For:
- Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to pupils with additional needs, including SEMH.
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons and differentiated learning activities.
- Promote positive behaviour, routines, and emotional regulation strategies.
- Help track progress and work closely with teachers, support staff, and families to ensure consistency in support.
- Encourage independence, resilience, and confidence in learners across the secondary age range.
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN and/or SEMH needs (school, care, or youth setting).
- A calm, patient, and proactive approach to supporting learning and managing behaviour.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
- Knowledge of SEN and SEMH strategies, with the ability to adapt to individual needs.
- Relevant qualifications in education, care, or support are desirable but not essential.
To be eligible you must:
- Right to work in the UK.
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply).
- Two professional references (preferably from child-related roles).
