Overview
Paediatric Occupational Therapist — Location: Walsall (WS9); Working Pattern: On Site; Contract Type: Temp / Ad-hoc; Pay Rate: £30-£50
Responsibilities
- Conduct an initial school visit (60 minutes) to observe the young person in class and meet with their LSA.
- Deliver sensory-based workshops (90 minutes each) tailored to the young person’s needs.
- Complete joint assessments (90 minutes each) with the Qualified Teacher for Vision Impairment (QTVI).
- Provide clear, effective written reports with equipment and strategy recommendations following each assessment.
- Collaborate with school staff, parents, and multidisciplinary professionals to ensure consistent support.
- Maintain high-quality clinical documentation in line with professional and safeguarding standards.
Requirements
- BSc/MSc in Occupational Therapy.
- HCPC registration (essential).
- Minimum 2 years' experience working with children and young people with SEND.
- Strong sensory integration knowledge and experience.
- Confident in assessment, report writing, and delivering workshops or training.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
- Professional indemnity and public liability insurance.
Desirable
- Membership of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT).
- Experience working with visually impaired children or young people.
- Background in ASD, sensory processing, or anxiety-related needs.
- Previous experience in educational or specialist school settings.
Additional Information
- Consultancy position with flexible scheduling.
- All safeguarding and vetting checks must be completed prior to starting.
- Travel to school sites within Walsall will be required.
