GCSE Tutor Maths & English (Wigan)

Prospero Teaching is seeking qualified and experienced GCSE Tutors to deliver one-to-one tuition in Maths and English to students in Wigan who need additional support to achieve their target grades. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference by helping learners build confidence, strengthen subject knowledge, and develop effective exam strategies.

Tuition will take place during school hours and can be delivered in the students home or online, depending on availability and learner needs. You will plan and deliver structured lessons aligned to the GCSE curriculum, adapting your approach to suit individual learning styles. Prospero Teaching will provide ongoing support and resources to help you succeed in this role.

CONTRACT / POSITION DETAILS

  • Location: Wigan and surrounding areas
  • Position: GCSE Tutor Maths & English
  • Type of work: One-to-one tuition
  • Full time/part time: Part-time up to 20 hours per week during school time
  • Minimum rate of pay: £25-30 per hour
  • Session Lengths: Flexible typically 1 to 3 hours per session
  • Start Date: Ongoing immediate interviews available

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver engaging and structured GCSE Maths and English lessons tailored to individual needs.
  • Identify gaps in knowledge and create targeted intervention plans.
  • Teach exam techniques and revision strategies to boost confidence and performance.
  • Track progress and provide clear feedback to parents/carers.
  • Adapt teaching methods to support different learning styles and abilities.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENT

You MUST hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) to be eligible for this role.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Hold Right to Work in the UK.
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
  • Provide two professional references covering the last two years.
