I am currently recruiting for a History Teacher to join an independent school in the Whyteleafe area (Surrey), who specialise in supporting Christian children and young people (7 – 18 years old). The typical class size is between 12 – 30 and the student are taught virtually (onsite), they will be working at the national curriculum average (with adjustments needed for individual learning levels). This position is full-time long-term (potentially temp to perm) starting immediately (November 2024). Daily Rate: Paid to scale Location: Whyteleafe Surrey (South London) Contract Type: Full Time, Temp-Perm Start Date: Immediate (September 2024) The successful applicants will have: Previous experience working with secondary age students (key stage 3 & 4). Ability to plan and deliver high quality, engaging lessons. Experience teaching students virtually. A thorough knowledge of the relevant curriculum areas up to KS4 and the ability to prepare pupils for public examinations. The ability to effectively manage pupil behaviour during lessons. Excellent classroom management skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with staff, parents and students. The role will consist of: Teaching KS3 and KS4 History. Teaching to a class of varying needs including varied types of learning levels. Work closely with students, their parents/careers and other members of staff to make sure that the students are happy and learning well. Tracking student progress on a regular basis. Adapting the syllabus according to the individual students’ EHCP. Implementing and delivering an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant, and differentiated curriculum for students and to support a designated learning area as appropriate. Making appropriate use of a range of monitoring and assessment strategies to evaluate pupil’s progress. Improving long term outcomes for students. The ideal applicants will have: QTS or equivalent and experience of working in UK schools (Unqualified Teachers with relevant subject experience will also be considered). Valid and Enhanced Child or Child and Adult DBS check registered on the update service (or willing to process a new one).
