Primary Teaching Assistant – Mainstream Primary School, Gosport (PO12)

Prospero Teaching is proud to be working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school based in Gosport (PO12), who are looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is a class-based role supporting pupils across Key Stages 1 and 2.

About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll work closely with the class teacher to support pupils throughout the school day-helping them feel confident, safe, and ready to learn.

Daily Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to help pupils with learning and social skills

  • Encourage positive behaviour and help children build friendships

  • Support emotional wellbeing and help remove barriers to learning

  • Work flexibly across different classes and follow a daily timetable

  • Use initiative to ensure all learners achieve the best outcomes

  • Who We’re Looking For

  • Patient, caring, and a strong team player

  • GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths (grade C or level 4)

  • Experience is helpful but not essential-training and support will be provided

  • Calm and positive approach to supporting children with a range of needs

  • Empathetic understanding of behaviour and emotional development

  • Willingness to undergo training, including support for children with medical needs

  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality

  • Working Hours: 8:15 am to 3:00 pm, Monday to Friday

  • Term-Time Only: 39 weeks per year

  • Starting Pay: £ per hour

  • Location: Mainstream primary school in Gosport (PO12)

  • Contract Type: Ongoing position
