Help Learners Build Confidence and Achieve Positive Outcomes

We're looking for a Secondary Tutor to support children and young people across Portsmouth and the surrounding areas through personalised 1:1 tuition. Working on behalf of Local Authorities, you'll provide tailored educational support to learners who require alternative provision. Many of the young people we work with face barriers to learning and benefit from a flexible, individualised approach that helps them re-engage with education, improve confidence, and make meaningful academic progress.

This opportunity is ideal for tutors who enjoy building strong relationships with learners and adapting lessons to meet individual needs.

Location: Portsmouth & Surrounding Areas

Key Stage: Secondary (KS3 & KS4)

Start Date: September

Hours: Flexible

Pay Rate: £25-£30 per hour

Type: 1:1 Tuition

Requirements:

  • Minimum 6 months' experience in an educational setting, including tutoring, teaching, teaching assistant, learning support, mentoring, or similar roles
  • QTS or PGCE Highly Desirable
  • Experience supporting secondary-aged learners
  • Strong subject knowledge in one or more curriculum areas
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging, personalised lessons
  • Experience supporting learners with SEND, EHCPs, or additional needs is desirable
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Patient, adaptable, and positive approach
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
  • Driver preferred; alternatively, willingness to travel locally around Portsmouth and surrounding areas
