We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate tutor to provide 1:1 Maths and English tuition to a Year 2 learner in the DT5 area. This young person is currently unable to access mainstream education due to SEMH needs, and the focus of this provision is to build confidence, self-esteem, and emotional readiness for learning, rather than applying pressure or strict academic expectations.

About the role:

  • 2 hours per week, delivered within the home initially
  • KS1 Maths and English support (lesson planning required)
  • Strong emphasis on a mentoring-led approach
  • Supporting a Looked After Child (LAC) with an EHCP (shared upon clearance)
  • Primary focus on relationship building and engagement, with gradual introduction to learning when the young person feels ready

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a minimum of 6 months' experience within a UK education setting
  • Be confident planning and delivering KS1 Maths and English lessons
  • Have experience or understanding of SEMH needs
  • Be patient, adaptable, and able to build trusting relationships
  • Be comfortable working in a low-pressure, child-led environment
