Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with a range of additional learning needs (including ASD, ADHD, MLD, SLD, and complex needs)
  • Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions under the direction of the class teacher
  • Assist in implementing Individual Development Plans (IDPs) and behaviour support plans
  • Promote positive behaviour and support emotional regulation using appropriate strategies
  • Adapt learning materials to meet individual pupil needs
  • Support pupils with personal care where required (training provided if applicable)
  • Encourage independence, communication, and social development
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external professionals
  • Maintain accurate observations and contribute to pupil progress records

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Experience working with children or young people (school, care, youth work, or similar)
  • Understanding of SEN and inclusive education practices
  • Patience, empathy, and a calm approach under pressure
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare

Desirable:

  • Experience in a SEN school or specialist setting
  • Training in Team Teach, Positive Behaviour Support, or similar approaches
