A specialist SEN day and residential school in Lymington is seeking dedicated and resilient School Support Workers to join their outstanding provision. This temp-to-perm opportunity is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people with Autism and helping them develop independence, confidence, and meaningful life skills. The school supports children and young people with Autism who have EHCPs and require structured support with communication, social interaction, organisation, and problem-solving. Pupils may be working at or above age-related expectations, while others have moderate learning difficulties. The environment is nurturing, structured, and highly child-centred.

As a Support Worker, you will play a key role in helping young people access education, build relationships, explore hobbies, and develop independence. Each pupil has a keyworker who acts as a trusted adult, liaising with families and supporting the young person both in school and in the residential setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide daily support to young people with Autism, both in education and residential settings
  • Act as a keyworker, building trusted relationships and supporting independence, hobbies, and social development
  • Support pupils with communication, organisation, and emotional regulation
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, residential staff, and families
  • Promote a safe, nurturing, and structured environment
  • Support young people to access the wider community and develop life skills
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and contribute to care planning

Requirements

  • Be able to drive (there is no public transport to the site)
  • Be able to drive a standard minibus as part of the role
  • Be available for shift work, including weekends and bank holidays
  • Provide a full CV with education and employment history from age 11, with all gaps explained
  • Confirm Right to Work status
  • Confirm weekly availability (40, 32, or 24 hours)
  • Hold or be willing to obtain an enhanced child barred list DBS
  • Provide professional references covering the last 24 months

  • Early: 07:15 - 15:30
  • Late: 15:00 - 22:30
  • Long Day: 07:15 - 22:15
