A welcoming and inclusive SEND primary school in Peckham is seeking a dedicated and experienced Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to join the team on a long-term basis for the academic year.
The Role
You will provide tailored support to pupils with complex needs, helping them to access learning, develop social skills, and achieve their individual targets. Working closely with teachers, the SENCO, therapists, and families, you will play a key role in creating a positive and nurturing learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Supporting pupils with complex learning, communication, and behavioural needs.
- Delivering 1:1 and small-group interventions.
- Assisting pupils with personal care where required.
- Implementing EHCP targets and behaviour support plans.
- Encouraging independence, engagement, and confidence.
- Working collaboratively with teaching and support staff.
Requirements
- Previous experience supporting children with SEN and/or complex needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient, caring, and resilient approach.
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
- Enhanced Child and Adult DBS is essential.
- Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support are desirable.
