About the Role

Prospero Teaching is excited to announce an opportunity for a passionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to work in an excellent secondary school in the Ormskirk area.

Location: Ormskirk, L39

Start Date: September 2026

Contract Type: Full-time

Working Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm

Pay: Paid to scale

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with additional needs, helping them engage and succeed in their studies.
  • Assist the class teacher in managing the classroom, preparing materials, and implementing lesson plans.
  • Help manage and improve student behaviour, ensuring a positive and conducive learning environment.
  • Ensuring students feel valued and supported in the classroom.
  • Helping students achieve their learning goals.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children.
  • Experience supporting individuals with additional needs.
  • Up-to-date Safeguarding training (desirable, but not essential as training will be provided).
  • Right to Work in the UK.
  • Enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service, or willingness to apply for a new one.
  • Ability to provide a minimum of two professional references covering 24 months/to cover the last 2 years.
