We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Nurture Teacher to join a thriving SEND school in Newcastle.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced teacher who is passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them to overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.

As a Nurture Teacher, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment where pupils can develop socially, emotionally, and academically.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver creative, differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils with SEND.
  • Lead and develop nurture-based interventions to support emotional wellbeing, resilience, and positive behaviour.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to promote confidence and engagement in learning.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, parents, and external professionals.
  • Monitor pupil progress and contribute to EHCP reviews and reporting.
  • Foster a nurturing, inclusive, and trauma-informed approach throughout the school day.
  • Support pupils in developing essential life skills, independence, and self-regulation strategies.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND, SEMH, Autism, or additional needs.
  • Strong understanding of nurture principles and child development.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
