Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated and engaging Secondary English Teacher to join a well-regarded secondary school in the Southampton area, starting 13th April, immediately after the Easter break. The school is looking for a qualified English specialist who can confidently deliver lessons to KS3 and KS4 pupils and take on full teacher responsibilities, including planning, marking, assessments, and classroom management.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced English Teacher or a strong ECT ready to step into a well-supported and forward-thinking English department. The successful candidate will be taken on a temp-perm basis.

The Role:

  • Teach English Language and Literature across KS3 and KS4
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality lessons
  • Mark and assess work in line with school policies
  • Support students' progress and help raise achievement
  • Maintain a positive, well-managed classroom environment
  • Contribute to departmental planning and curriculum development
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support learners of all abilities

Ideal Candidate:

  • Fully qualified teacher with QTS/QTLS
  • Specialism in English
  • Confident teaching KS3-KS4
  • Strong subject knowledge and ability to inspire engagement

  • Reliable, organised, and committed to high standards

Experience, Training & Safeguarding:

  • QTS/QTLS required
  • Experience teaching English in a secondary school
  • Up-to-date safeguarding training (can be provided)

  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
  • Able to provide two professional references from recent teaching roles
