Graduate Teaching Assistant - SEN & Mainstream Schools Across Southampton

Prospero Teaching is working in partnership with a range of specialist SEN schools as well as mainstream primary and secondary schools across Southampton and the surrounding areas. These settings support children and young people aged 5-19 with Autism, ADHD, social-emotional needs and a wide variety of learning profiles. Many of our partner schools are recognised for their therapeutic approaches, strong multi-disciplinary teams and personalised support for pupils' learning and wellbeing.

This role is an excellent opportunity for a graduate who is looking to gain hands-on experience in education, inclusion and child development while making a meaningful impact on pupils' lives.

Hours: 08:30am - 15:30pm, Monday to Friday (term-time)

Pay: From a minimum of £13.96 per hour

About the Role

  • Support staff in delivering evidence-based interventions that promote emotional regulation, resilience and positive behaviour
  • Assist with behaviour tracking, data collection and progress monitoring
  • Work alongside teachers, therapists and SEN teams to support learning and wellbeing
  • Provide small-group or 1:1 support tailored to pupils' individual needs
  • Help develop strategies that improve engagement, motivation and social-emotional development
  • Opportunities available across both specialist SEN provisions and inclusive mainstream classrooms

What We're Looking For

  • A degree in any subject (recent graduates welcome)
  • Interest in education, child development or supporting young people with additional needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Patience, enthusiasm and a proactive approach to supporting pupils
  • Previous SEN experience is beneficial-particularly with Autism or behavioural needs-but not essential

Eligibility Requirements

  • Right to Work in the UK
  • Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
  • References covering the last 24 months
