Position: SEN Specialist Tutor

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: Dependent on individual student needs

Hours: Part-time (10-15 hours per week)

Session Length: Minimum 1 hour, maximum 3 hours per session

Pay Rate: GBP25-GBP30 per hour

The Opportunity:

Prospero Teaching is seeking an experienced SEN Tutor to deliver bespoke 1:1 education packages to young people with complex Special Educational Needs (SEN) who are currently not attending school. Complex SEND needs include:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Non-verbal communication needs
  • Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
  • Global learning delay
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH)

Pupils have been out of education for an extended period and may be awaiting a specialist school placement. The successful tutor will provide structured, personalised support to help bridge learning gaps, build confidence, and support both academic and emotional development. Prospero Teaching will work closely with the tutor to monitor progress and ensure effective learning outcomes for each pupil.

Experience, Training and Qualifications:

  • QTS, QTLS, PGCE, EYFS or equivalent qualification
  • Previous experience supporting young people with complex SEN
  • Minimum of 6 months experience working in a UK school
  • Up-to-date Safeguarding training (desirable but not essential)
  • Personal care experience (desirable but not essential)

Be Eligible for This Role:

  • Hold the Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service, or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide two professional child-related references covering the last two years
