Prospero Teaching is looking for a passionate and proactive Class Teacher to support the learning of pupils in one of our inspirational SEND Schools in Ashington on a full-time and long-term basis. This is an exciting opportunity to build positive relationships with pupils and have a long-term, positive impact on their progress and development both inside and outside the classroom.

Responsibilities

  • The role will involve planning and teaching engaging and informative lessons that inspire pupils with a wide range of SEND and allows all pupils to make progress.
  • Working with Primary and Secondary aged pupils with a wide range of SEND and challenging behaviours.
  • Building positive relationships with pupils and Teaching Assistants to create excellent learning environments.
  • Managing challenging behaviour in a positive, proactive and consistent manner.
  • Differentiating lessons appropriately to suit the needs and learning styles of all pupils.
  • Using varied methods of assessment to assess the pupils' progress.
  • Displaying high levels of enthusiasm, energy and positivity when working with children.
  • Working effectively with Teaching Assistants to ensure children receive the best possible educational experience.

About the School

The role is based in an inspirational SEND School in Ashington. There is an opportunity for the role to be based across any age group from EYFS to Sixth Form depending on the experience, specialism and preference of the successful candidate. The School has an outstanding supportive culture and Leadership Team, where staff work as a team within classrooms to provide the highest standard of support to pupils.

Experience/Qualifications and Requirements

  • An Enhanced DBS (ideally on the Update Service but this is not essential as we can process a new one for you).
  • QTS and Teaching experience in either Primary or Secondary School settings within the UK.
  • Experience of short, medium and long-term planning.
  • Experience of utilising a range of methods to assess pupil progress.
  • Strong knowledge of the National Curriculum.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with an ability to build rapport.
  • A positive and resilient attitude towards Teaching and work.
  • Experience of Teaching within the UK.
  • A genuine passion for Teaching.
  • Strong organisation and communication skills.

About the role

  • Location: Ashington
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Contract: Full-time until the end of the academic year
  • Hours: 8:30-16:00
  • Pay: £600-£1000 per week
