Prospero Teaching is partnered with Local Councils, SEND teams, and schools across the UK. We are currently experiencing a high demand for Functional Skills Tutors in Gateshead to deliver Maths, English, and PSHE at Entry Level 3, Level 1, and Level 2.
The Opportunity
We are seeking nurturing and dedicated Functional Skills Tutors to support children and young people on a one-to-one or small group basis. These learners are not currently accessing full-time education for a variety of reasons, including emotional or behavioural barriers to learning. Many of our students have been out of education for extended periods, so we are looking for tutors who are patient, flexible, and passionate about helping young people rebuild confidence and re-engage with learning.
Sessions are delivered face-to-face in one of the following settings:
- Community venues
- Schools or Alternative Provisions
- The young person's home
Position Details
Pay rate: Up to GBP30 per hour (depending on experience/qualifications)
Hours: Up to 15 hours per week per student
Location: Gateshead
Duration: Ongoing
Access to our Resource Hub, including learning materials
Access to CPD-accredited courses and training
Your Role
- Deliver one-to-one or small group Functional Skills tuition (Maths and/or English)
- Plan and deliver personalised lessons to address individual learning gaps
- Monitor student progress and provide regular, constructive feedback
- Create a supportive and motivating learning environment
- Complete daily attendance records and weekly reports
Requirements
- Have previous experience delivering Functional Skills
- Have the right to work in the UK
- Hold an enhanced DBS (Child Barred List) registered on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one
- Be able to provide references covering the last two years of education/employment
