Prospero Teaching is looking for a qualified ESOL Tutor to deliver personalised, one-to-one English language support to young learners who are currently not attending mainstream education. This role is ideal for an experienced ESOL teacher who wants to make a meaningful difference by providing engaging, supportive sessions that help students improve their English, rebuild their confidence, and re-engage with learning. Students may be newly arrived to the UK, have English as an additional language, or have missed significant schooling. You’ll plan and deliver bespoke lessons that meet their language needs while fostering a positive, structured learning experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver tailored ESOL sessions on a 1:1 basis within the students home or out in the community (library or learning hub)
- Create engaging lesson plans that support language acquisition and confidence building
- Track student progress and adapt teaching methods as needed
- Work closely with the Prospero Teaching team to ensure effective support is in place

- Location: Bishop Auckland (sessions can take place within the students home or in the community)
- Position: ESOL Tutor
- Start date: ASAP
- Contract type: Temporary, ongoing
- Hours: Flexible – from 1 to 2 hours per session; part-time and full-time options available
- Pay rate: Up to GBP30 per hour
REQUIREMENTS
- Recognised ESOL teaching qualification (e.g. CELTA, CertTESOL, or equivalent)
- Minimum 6 months experience teaching ESOL in a UK setting
- Confident working independently and managing personalised learning plans
- A valid enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one
- Right to work in the UK
