About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Engineering Technician to join our Engineering department at a Further Education College based in Norwich, Norfolk. This is an excellent opportunity for a practical, organised individual who is passionate about supporting engineering education and contributing to the development of future engineers.
You will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning by ensuring workshops and laboratories are safe, well-equipped, and fit for purpose.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, maintain, and set up engineering equipment, machinery, and resources for practical lessons
- Support teaching staff and students during workshop and laboratory sessions
- Carry out routine maintenance, testing, and basic repairs of engineering machinery and tools
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and safeguarding regulations at all times
- Manage stock control, ordering of consumables, and equipment inventories
- Assist with risk assessments and safe working practices
- Support learners with technical guidance and practical demonstrations where required
We are looking for someone who:
- Has practical experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment
- Holds a relevant engineering qualification (Level 2/3 or equivalent preferred)
- Has strong knowledge of workshop safety and engineering equipment
- Is well organised, reliable, and able to work independently
- Enjoys working in an educational setting and supporting student success
- Has good communication and teamwork skills
Experience within an educational or training environment is desirable but not essential.
