Role Purpose
To support teachers in delivering high-quality education and fostering an inclusive learning environment for pupils across primary and secondary schools in Newport. The Teaching Assistant will work with individuals and groups to support learning, access to the curriculum, and promote positive behaviour and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Teaching & Learning Support
- Assist in delivering engaging and effective learning activities under the direction of teachers.
- Support pupils' learning across a range of subjects appropriate to age (primary) and curriculum areas (secondary).
- Adapt resources and teaching approaches to meet pupils' individual needs.
- Provide targeted support to pupils with additional needs, including special educational needs (SEN) and English as an Additional Language (EAL).
- Support pupils during whole-class, group, and one-to-one activities.
- Behaviour, Wellbeing & Safeguarding
- Promote positive behaviour, following school policies and expectations.
- Build positive relationships and encourage pupils' social, emotional, and academic development.
- Support safe and inclusive classrooms and outdoor spaces.
- Monitor and report any safeguarding concerns in line with school procedures.
