We are recruiting on behalf of secondary schools across Newcastle seeking dedicated Teaching Assistants to support students in KS3, KS4 and KS5 settings. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on young people's education, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
About the role:
- Supporting students aged 11-19 across all year groups, depending on your preference and experience.
- Assisting teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons.
- Providing tailored academic and pastoral support on a 1:1 basis.
- Supporting small groups of students, typically between 3-5 pupils.
- Helping to create a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teaching staff.
- Encouraging student engagement, confidence and independence in the classroom.
Pay, Hours and Contract:
- Pay: £15 - £17 per hour
- Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm, Monday to Friday
- Contract: Full-time, temporary position with the potential to become permanent
- Start Date: September 2026
- Location: Newcastle
Experience, Qualifications and Requirements:
- Previous experience working in a school, education, childcare, youth work or support-based setting is desirable.
- Teaching Assistant, Supporting Teaching & Learning, childcare or related qualification (preferred but not essential).
- Confident supporting students on a 1:1 basis and within small group settings.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- A patient, positive and proactive approach.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Hold an enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service or be willing to process a new application.
- Professional child-related or care-related references covering the last two years.
