Prospero Teaching is looking for a passionate, proactive and enthusiastic Maths Teacher to support the learning of pupils in one of our inspirational PRU Settings in Newcastle on a Temporary to Permanent basis, to start ASAP or from September 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity to build positive relationships with pupils and have a long-term, positive impact on their lives, progress and development.

About the Role
  • Planning and teaching engaging and informative Maths sessions that inspire pupils with a wide range of SEN and enables all pupils to make progress.
  • Working with secondary aged pupils within a PRU setting who have SEMH of varying levels and challenging behaviour on a 1:1 basis and in small intervention groups.
  • Building positive relationships with pupils and teaching assistants to create excellent learning environments.
  • Managing challenging behaviour in a positive, proactive and consistent manner.
  • Differentiating lessons appropriately to suit the needs and learning styles of all pupils.
  • Using varied methods of assessment to assess pupil progress.
  • Displaying high levels of enthusiasm, energy and positivity when working with children.
  • Working effectively with teaching assistants to ensure children receive the best possible educational experience.
About the School

The role is based in an inspirational PRU setting in Newcastle. The school supports pupils across the secondary school age range who have SEMH and have been temporarily excluded from mainstream school.

Pay, Hours and Contract
  • Pay – Between £130-200 per day
  • Hours – 08.30-16.30
  • Contract – Temporary to Permanent Contract
  • Start date – ASAP or from September 2026
  • Location – Newcastle
Experience / Qualifications and Requirements
  • Enhanced DBS (preferred if on the Update Service but not essential as we can process a new one for you)
  • Maths teaching experience in SEND, primary or secondary school settings within the UK
  • Strong behaviour management skills
  • Experience of utilising a range of methods to assess pupil progress
  • Strong KS3-KS5 maths subject knowledge
  • Strong relationship-building skills with an ability to build rapport
  • A positive and resilient attitude towards teaching and work
  • A genuine passion for teaching
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
