Prospero Teaching are looking for an experienced, passionate and patient Maths & English Tutor. Within this role, you must be able to create, plan and deliver 1:1 tailored lessons as a means of alternate education. One of your aims will be to support and re-engage a pupil in their learning, offer structure back into their daily routine, continue their educational development and aid their return to school. Patience is a key attribute as young people may have a prolonged period out of education or may have Social Emotional and Mental Health needs.
The tuition is replacing school for these young people and is usually 6 hours per week for each student, taking place during school hours. Prospero will work with you closely to monitor the progression with each pupil by asking you to submit weekly reports.
Information about the role:
- Ongoing placement, or until the young person returns to school
- Hours dependent on the young person's needs
- GBP25 β GBP30 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
The desired candidate will have:
- Experience tutoring Maths and English on a 1:1 or small group basis
- QTS is desirable but not essential
- Be creative, patient and willing to think outside of the box
- Have experience working with challenging behaviour and disengaged pupils
What we need from you:
- Hold a right to work in the UK
- Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to complete a new application
- Provide references to cover the last two years of employment
- The ability to commit to the young person and work for the duration of the placement
