Prospero Teaching is looking for a passionate, experienced and qualified Higher Level Teaching Assistant to support the learning of pupils in one of our inspirational Alternative Provision settings in Newcastle on a full-time basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a leading role in the Learning Support Department and build positive relationships with pupils to have a long-term, positive impact on their lives, progress and development.
About the School:
The role is based in an inspirational SEND School setting in Newcastle. The School supports pupils across the Secondary School age range (11-16) who have been temporarily excluded from mainstream School. The School supports pupils who have varying levels of SEMH and some pupils do display challenging behaviour.
Pay, Hours and Contract:
- Pay – Between £100-120 per day DOE
- Hours – Full-time until the end of the Academic Year in July 2026.
- Start Date – ASAP
- Location – Newcastle
About the HLTA Role:
The role will involve PPA Cover in the absence of Class Teachers across the School. The role will also involve some planning and delivery of learning activities to pupils in small groups. A key part of the role will be to build a rapport and positive relationships with pupils to help them engage with their learning and make progress both academically and as young people. Additionally, it will be important to develop an understanding of the different needs and learning styles of different pupils within the classroom.
Experience/Qualifications and Requirements:
- A Teaching (QTS), Supporting Teaching and Learning or HLTA Qualification
- Experience of working with Children in Schools in the UK
- Experience within an SEND School Setting (desired)
- Experience of planning and delivering learning activities to small groups of pupils.
- An ability to build positive relationships and a rapport with pupils and staff.
- A genuine passion for supporting pupils with SEND within an SEND School
- Hold Right to Work in the UK
- Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
- Provide two professional references that cover the last two years
