Prospero Teaching is looking for a passionate, proactive and enthusiastic English Lead to promote the learning of pupils in one of our inspirational PRU Settings in Newcastle on a full-time and long-term basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to build positive relationships with pupils and have a long-term, positive impact on their lives, progress and development.
About the Role
- The role will involve planning and teaching engaging and informative English lessons that inspire pupils with a wide range of SEN and allows all pupils to make progress.
- Working with Secondary aged pupils within a PRU setting who have a wide range of SEN and challenging behaviour on a 1:1 basis and in small Intervention groups
- The role will involve designing, planning and implementing an English curriculum
- Managing challenging behaviour in a positive, proactive and consistent manner
- Differentiating lessons appropriately to suit the needs and earning styles of all pupils.
- Using varied methods of assessment to assess pupil progress
- Displaying high levels of enthusiasm, energy and positivity when working with children.
- Working effectively with Teaching Assistants to ensure children receive the best possible educational experience
About the School
- The role is based in an inspirational PRU setting in Newcastle.
- The School supports pupils across the Secondary School age range who have been excluded from mainstream Education
Pay, Hours and Contract
- Contract β Full-time until the end of the Academic Year in July 2027. Temporary Contract.
- Start Date β ASAP or from September
- Location β Newcastle
Experience / Qualifications and Requirements
- An Enhanced DBS (ideally on the Update Service but this is not essential as we can process a new one for you)
- English Teaching experience
- Experience of utilising a range of methods to assess pupil progress
- Strong relationship-building skills with an ability to build rapport
- A positive and resilient attitude towards Teaching and work
- A genuine passion for Teaching and supporting young people develop their skills
- Strong organisation and communication skills
