Prospero Teaching is looking for a passionate, proactive and enthusiastic Construction Tutor to support the learning of pupils in one of our inspirational PRU Settings in Newcastle on a full-time and long-term basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to build positive relationships with pupils and have a long-term, positive impact on their lives, progress and development.
About the Role:
- Planning and teaching engaging and informative Construction sessions that inspire pupils with a wide range of SEN and allows all pupils to make progress.
- Working with Secondary aged pupils within a PRU setting who have a wide range of SEN and challenging behaviour on a 1:1 basis and in small Intervention groups.
- Building positive relationships with pupils and Teaching Assistants to create excellent learning environments.
- Managing challenging behaviour in a positive, proactive and consistent manner.
- Differentiating lessons appropriately to suit the needs and learning styles of all pupils.
- Using varied methods of assessment to assess pupil progress.
- Displaying high levels of enthusiasm, energy and positivity when working with children.
- Working effectively with Teaching Assistants to ensure children receive the best possible educational experience.
About the School:
The role is based in an inspirational PRU setting in Newcastle. The School supports pupils across the Secondary School age range who have been excluded from mainstream Education.
Pay, Hours and Contract:
- Pay β Between Β£110-145 per day.
- Contract β Full-time until the end of the Academic Year in July 2025. Temporary Contract.
- Start Date β ASAP.
- Location β Newcastle.
Experience/Qualifications and Requirements:
- An Enhanced DBS (ideally on the Update Service but this is not essential as we can process a new one for you).
- Construction Tutoring or Teaching experience of any kind.
- Strong Behaviour Management skills.
- Experience of utilising a range of methods to assess pupil progress.
- Preferably some experience in plastering, bricklaying, DT or painting.
- Strong relationship-building skills with an ability to build rapport.
- A positive and resilient attitude towards Teaching and work.
- A genuine passion for Teaching and supporting young people develop their skills.
- Strong organisation and communication skills.
