ABOUT THE SCHOOL

Prospero Teaching is seeking a qualified Science Teacher for an Alternative Provision setting in New Milton, Hampshire, starting December 2025. This is a specialist provision supporting pupils who require an alternative to mainstream education, often due to Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs or other barriers to learning. The school provides a nurturing environment with a strong focus on personalised learning, emotional wellbeing, and positive relationships. Staff work collaboratively to help students achieve academic success and personal growth.

We are looking for a passionate and adaptable Science Teacher who can deliver engaging lessons to KS3 and KS4 learners in small groups. Experience in SEMH or Alternative Provision is desirable but not essential - training and support will be provided. This role is suitable for both experienced teachers and ECTs.

CONTRACT DETAILS

  • Location: New Milton, Hampshire
  • Position: Science Teacher
  • Type of work: KS3/KS4 Science within an Alternative Provision setting
  • Start date: December 2025
  • Duration: Temporary (with potential to become permanent)
  • Contract type: Long-term, Temp-to-Perm
  • Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (8:30 am - 4:00 pm)
  • Pay: From £168.29 per day

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • PGCE / QTS or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Minimum 1-year Science teaching experience in the UK (mainstream or special education)
  • Experience with SEMH or SEN pupils is desirable
  • Up-to-date Safeguarding training within the last year

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:

  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Be available for 5 full days per week
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to apply for one
  • Provide two professional child-related references
