Prospero Teaching is working with a secondary school seeking an experienced and driven Team Leader of Design Technology to join their leadership team from September. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate subject specialist to take on a key leadership role, combining teaching with departmental leadership.

You will lead the delivery and development of Design Technology and Food Preparation & Nutrition across KS3 and KS4, working to raise standards, support staff, and ensure students achieve strong outcomes. The role would suit an ambitious middle leader or experienced teacher ready to take the next step.

The Role:

  • Lead and manage the Design Technology department
  • Teach Design Technology and/or Food Preparation & Nutrition across KS3 and KS4
  • Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons
  • Monitor teaching, learning, and assessment across the department
  • Support and develop colleagues through mentoring and collaboration
  • Implement strategies to improve student outcomes and progress
  • Manage departmental resources and maintain safe working environments
  • Build strong relationships with staff, parents, and the wider school community
  • Contribute to whole-school development and strategic planning

Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Strong subject knowledge in Design Technology or Food Preparation & Nutrition
  • Experience teaching at secondary level
  • Previous experience in a leadership or middle leadership role desirable
  • Proven ability to deliver high standards of teaching and learning
  • Confident supporting and developing other staff members
  • Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Committed to continuous improvement and professional development

Contract Details:

  • Position: Team Leader of Design Technology (QTS)
  • Location: Secondary School
  • Start Date: September
  • Working Pattern: Full-time
  • Pay Rate: UPS (£47,472 - £51,048) + TLR
  • Key Stages: KS3-KS4

Experience, Training & Safeguarding:

  • QTS required
  • Significant experience within a Design Technology department
  • Leadership experience desirable
  • Safeguarding training can be provided
