Are you passionate about making a real difference in a young person’s life?
Prospero Teaching are looking for a kind, patient, and engaging mentor to support a fantastic Year 5 child in the Farnborough area. This young person has a love for computer games and would benefit from a mentor who can help them build life skills and engage in activities that spark their interest.

About the Young Person:

  • Has SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) and SEN (Special Educational Needs)
  • Currently working below age-related expectations socially and academically
  • Thrives with gentle encouragement , structure, and positive engagement
  • As a Mentor, you will:

  • Build a trusting, supportive relationship
  • Engage the young person in meaningful activities and tasks
  • Support development of life skills and social confidence
  • Provide consistent, reliable mentoring in a safe public setting- likely to be school
  • About you:

  • Someone with experience or interest in working with children with additional needs
  • A calm, empathetic, and reliable individual
  • Someone who can tailor activities to the young person’s interests (especially gaming!)
  • A mentor who can commit to regular weekday sessions
  • Position – Mentor
    Contract or position start date – ASAP
    Contract or position end date (if applicable) – N/A
    Full time/part-time – Varied
    Hours – 10 per week- 2 per day- Monday to Friday- Flexible timings
    Essential & Desirable Qualifications:

    To be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with young people as a TA, 1:1, Cover Supervisor, LSA, Teacher, Tutor, Mentor, Youth Worker or another related field- ESSENTIAL
  • Experience of working with learners with SEN/ SEMH needs- ESSENTIAL
  • Trauma informed- DESIRABLE
  • Hold right to work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide references upon request
  • Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
