This is a rewarding opportunity to support vulnerable young people who may have experienced disruption to their education. The successful tutor will be able to build positive relationships, re-engage students with learning, and deliver tailored academic support to help them achieve their potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and personalised Maths and/or English tuition tailored to each student's ability and needs.
  • Support students who are out of school, including those with gaps in education, low confidence, or complex backgrounds.
  • Work with LAC and other vulnerable learners, providing consistent and nurturing support.
  • Identify gaps and create structured lessons to accelerate progress.
  • Develop students' confidence in Maths and English: reading, writing, spelling, grammar, and comprehension.
  • Adapt teaching methods and resources for different learning styles and needs.
  • Monitor and record progress, providing feedback to carers, and other professionals where required.
  • Foster positive attitudes towards learning and promote student engagement and attendance.

Requirements:

  • Experience teaching or tutoring Maths and/or English.

  • Experience working with young people who may be disengaged from education or require additional support.
  • Ability to build strong rapport and motivate learners with diverse needs and backgrounds.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Right to work in the UK.

Desirable:

  • QTS or a relevant teaching qualification.
  • Experience working with Looked After Children (LAC), students in alternative provision, or those receiving EOTAS packages.
  • Experience supporting students with SEND, SEMH needs, anxiety, or behavioural challenges.
  • Experience preparing students for SATs, GCSEs, or Functional Skills qualifications.
  • Previous experience delivering 1:1 tuition.
