The Role
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who may display challenging behaviour or require emotional regulation support. You will play a vital role in helping pupils engage with learning, develop positive relationships, and build confidence within a mainstream classroom environment.
Responsibilities
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs
- Supporting pupils to manage emotions, behaviour, and social interactions
- Implementing behaviour support strategies and individual support plans
- Working collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and pastoral staff
- Promoting positive behaviour and helping pupils remain engaged in lessons
- Supporting pupils during transitions and unstructured times such as break and lunch
- Creating a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment
