About the school:

We are working with a warm and inclusive primary school in Bury who are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team to start asap. This full-time role involves working with children across Key Stages 1 and 2, many of whom have additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and significant communication difficulties. Strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with children are essential, as building positive, supportive relationships is a key part of helping them thrive both socially and academically.

About the role as a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with EHCPs and additional needs
  • Assist the class teacher with lesson delivery, behaviour support, and tailored interventions
  • Promote emotional regulation, independence, and positive routines throughout the school day
  • Contribute to progress tracking and communicate regularly with the wider support team

What We’re Looking For from a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience supporting children with SEND (in a school or care setting)
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively
  • A calm, compassionate, and proactive approach
  • Strong understanding of Autism and SEND
  • A relevant TA qualification

To be eligible you must:

  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service OR be willing to process a new application
  • Provide two professional child related references
