Prospero Teaching are recruiting for a Home School Liaison Officer, to support young people in a PRU in Chorlton. The young people have been taken out of mainstream education due to their SEMH needs. You will need to go to the homes of the young people, and liaise with third parties to support them as much as possible.

Purpose of the Role: The Home School Liaison Officer plays a key role in promoting student wellbeing and supporting the schools pastoral management system. The postholder will work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external agencies to help students achieve their full potential, reduce absenteeism, and minimise the risk of exclusion. This role is central to building strong home-school partnerships and ensuring every child has access to the support they need.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with students, families, and carers
  • Undertake home visits to support engagement and wellbeing
  • Signpost families to external support services and agencies
  • Organise parent/carer panels and academic mentoring for targeted students
  • Support the development of Individual Action Plans and attend multi-agency meetings
  • Address poor attendance and behaviour concerns, supporting reintegration after exclusion
  • Maintain accurate records of parental communication and student support
  • Promote cultural inclusion and community engagement
  • Assist with pastoral duties, lunchtime supervision, school trips, and administrative tasks
  • Represent the school at parents evenings and contribute to its ethos and vision

Person Specification:

Essential Knowledge & Skills:

  • Understanding of attendance, exclusion, and child protection regulations
  • Familiarity with electronic and manual record-keeping systems
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Competence in using school information systems and attendance tracking tools
  • Valid full UK driving licence
