Prospero Teaching is seeking a calm, patient, and committed Teaching Assistant to join an all‑through autism specialist school in the Lyndhurst area. The school supports children and young people aged 4-19 with Autism, Complex Learning Profiles, communication differences, sensory needs, and barriers to engaging with learning.
This is a full‑time, temp‑to‑perm opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting neurodivergent pupils in a structured, therapeutic, and child‑centred environment.
Please note: Due to the rural location, there are limited public transport links. Applicants must have access to their own vehicle and live within a reasonable distance of Lyndhurst.
Key Responsibilities- Supporting pupils throughout the school day with consistency and emotional safety
- Working within a class group or providing 1:1 support, depending on individual needs
- Supporting communication, emotional regulation, sensory processing, and engagement in learning
- Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive daily routines
- Using calm, clear, and predictable communication to build trusting relationships
- Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and the wider multidisciplinary team
- Being flexible to support different age groups across the all‑through setting
- Location: Lyndhurst
- Position: Teaching Assistant - Autism & Complex Needs
- Start Date: ASAP or September 2026
- Contract Type: Full‑time, Temp to Perm
- Monday-Tuesday: 08:30-16:30
- Wednesday-Thursday: 08:30-16:00
- Friday: 08:30-15:00
Requirements
- Driver with access to car (not essential but recommended due to location)
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply
- GCSE Maths & English (Grade C / Level 4 or above) - evidence required
- Availability for full‑time hours
- Experience supporting SEN is beneficial but not essential
- Free accredited CPD, including safeguarding, behaviour support, and de‑escalation
- Access to our specialist Training & Development Team
- Ongoing support from a dedicated SEN consultant
- A structured, supportive environment with opportunities for professional growth
