The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 Β£ per year.

Needed ASAP in a large secondary school in Southwark. The successful candidate will have experience of working with pupils having special educational needs in a diverse school setting and would be expected to have or be working towards the SENDCo qualification should they be successful after the initial first year in post. You will work with our clinical and inclusion teams to develop strategies for individual pupils and across the whole school, making sure appropriate resources are in place to deliver interventions.

Essential requirements to be successful in the role are:

  • Be a Qualified Teacher (holding QTS or equivalent) with a minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience within inclusion or SEN coordination, in SEND, therapeutic or outreach education sector.
  • Hold or be working towards the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCo) or relevant experience.
  • Experience of driving inclusive education initiatives to support best practice with vulnerable and complex groups.
  • Proven skills in coaching & mentoring.
  • Proactive and innovative, collaborating with team members in other disciplines, whilst also with the ability to work flexibly and independently.
  • Experience of managing neurodiverse children with SEND, including ASC and/or SEMH.
  • Experience of coaching staff to improve their practice.

What will be required of you:

  • Provide overall direction for the Schools Learning Support programme.
  • Manage all exam access arrangements, including for our admissions processes, and ensure all required paperwork is completed correctly and in good time.
  • Monitor the implementation and efficacy of SEND interventions.
  • Liaise with relevant external agencies/individuals, educational psychologists.
  • Lead and line manage other staff within the department, including conducting appraisal.
  • Teach and support pupils on a one-to-one basis or in small groups, and provide in-class support where necessary.
  • Liaise with staff to identify pupils requiring support from the department.
  • Liaise with parents of pupils requiring support from the department.
  • Attend staff meetings and contribute to discussions regarding relevant pupils.
  • Manage the overall SEND Policy, which includes sections on EAL and the pastoral care of these pupils.
