About the Opportunity
Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Tutor to deliver personalised 1:1 tuition in Maths and English to young people across Barking & Dagenham. Learners may be out of school due to a range of additional needs, and require a patient, adaptable tutor who can provide structured, engaging sessions that rebuild confidence and support steady academic progress.
Tuition will typically be 10-15 hours per week, delivered in the home or community setting. Many pupils will have experienced disrupted education, so the ability to differentiate, build rapport, and create a safe, supportive learning environment is essential. Prospero Teaching will work closely with you to monitor progress and ensure each learner receives consistent, high-quality support.

Experience, Training and Qualifications
- Teaching qualification is essential (QTS, QTLS, PGCE or equivalent)
- Strong experience supporting pupils with SEN
- Ability to deliver Maths and English at an appropriate level
- Minimum 6 months' experience in a UK school or tuition setting
- Up-to-date Safeguarding Training (desirable)
To Be Eligible for This Role, You Must:
- Hold Right to Work in the UK
- Hold an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one
- Provide two professional references covering the last two years
