Graduate Teaching Assistant – Secondary

Location: Barnet, London

Position Type: Full‑Time

Start Date: ASAP

We are seeking graduates who have excelled in Maths or English at both GCSE and A‑Level and who are eager to make a positive impact in a school setting.

Responsibilities

  • Support the class teacher and students during lessons
  • Build rapport with 5–6 students with specific needs and implement strategies to nurture, engage and raise attainment in their secondary years
  • Conduct 1:1 tuition sessions supporting your subject specialism
  • Run intervention groups in your subject area to build students’ knowledge of the subject

Support and Development

  • Training, guidance and support from an experienced consultant at Prospero, the Training and Development Team, and the school
  • Access to a programme of free training and CPD sessions
  • Resources and strategies to support learners, behaviour‑management training, and group and 1:1 training from qualified, experienced staff

Working Hours and Compensation

  • Full‑time school hours, 8 am – 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday.
  • You will be required to run an after‑school club once a week until 4:30 pm and attend a departmental meeting once a week.
  • The role is paid weekly at a daily rate of £90–£100 per day and may become a permanent post in the future.
