About the Role
Prospero Teaching is seeking an experienced and passionate GCSE Maths & English Tutor to join our team in Manchester, starting in January 2026. In this role, you will deliver 1:1 GCSE Maths and English lessons to students who need additional support. We are looking for someone who can adapt their teaching methods to meet the individual needs of each learner, helping them build confidence, enhance their subject knowledge, and achieve success in their exams.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver tailored GCSE Maths and English lessons, adjusting content and pace to fit the learner's needs.
- Support students in improving subject knowledge, developing study skills, and building exam confidence.
- Create a positive, supportive learning environment, fostering strong, trusting relationships with students.
- Track progress and provide constructive feedback to parents/carers or professionals involved in the student's learning.
- Develop and implement structured learning plans, using a therapeutic approach where needed.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience teaching or tutoring Maths and/or English.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
- Ability to work independently and manage flexible schedules.
Desirable Qualifications
- QTS or PGCE in Secondary Education.
- Experience working with learners with SEN (Autism, ADHD, SEMH).

Sessions typically take place during school hours, with the occasional after-school or evening slots available. Prospero Teaching will support you with resources and regular progress monitoring to ensure the best outcomes for students.
