Prospero Teaching is working alongside a Secondary School based in Southland (the southernmost region of the South Island, NZ), who would like to welcome a Food Technology & Consumer Studies Teacher to join their school in January 2027 (Term 1). The school welcomes overseas-trained teachers. The school is a large Year 7-13 school, providing a wide range of learning and co-curricular opportunities while retaining an important sense of community. The staff are committed to providing a supportive and challenging learning environment, promoting high levels of achievement academically and in co-curricular activities. Their focus is to simply prepare students for their futures by helping to develop confident, proud, responsible and motivated young adults.

Qualifications:

  • Be eligible to work and teach in New Zealand
  • Hold a relevant teaching qualification in Food Technology and Consumer Studies
  • Be in the process of or have already obtained the NZ Teachers Registration
  • Have an up-to-date criminal record check, or be willing to process a new application
  • Be willing to undertake a Zoom-based interview (if based outside of New Zealand)
  • Be able to provide at least 2 different professional teaching or practicum references covering the last 2 years
  • Have high expectations and commitment to best practice
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Be creative and innovative
  • Have drive and tenacity
  • Be a strong team player
  • Be organized, with good time management
