ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Prospero Teaching is looking for experienced GCSE Tutors to deliver tailored one-to-one tuition in Maths and English to students who require additional academic support. As a GCSE Tutor, you will plan and deliver personalised lessons that address gaps in knowledge and prepare students for upcoming exams. Tuition will take place during school hours and can be delivered in the student's home or online, depending on availability and individual circumstances.
This role is ideal for tutors who are passionate about education and can adapt their teaching style to meet the needs of each learner. You will work closely with Prospero Teaching to monitor progress and ensure effective learning outcomes.
CONTRACT/POSITION DETAILS
- Location: Skelmersdale and surrounding areas
- Position: GCSE Tutor Maths & English
- Type of work: One-to-one tuition (in-home or online)
- Full time/part time: Part-time up to 20 hours per week during school hours
- Minimum rate of pay: £25 per hour
- Hours: Flexible sessions typically range from 1 to 3 hours
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver engaging and structured GCSE Maths and English lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
- Identify gaps in knowledge and create targeted plans to address them.
- Support students in developing exam techniques and study skills.
- Provide regular feedback to parents/carers and maintain clear progress records.
- Adapt teaching strategies to suit different learning styles and abilities.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 1 year of experience teaching or tutoring GCSE Maths or English.
- QTS, QTLS, PGCE or equivalent qualification (desirable but not essential).
- Up-to-date safeguarding training (desirable but can be provided).
TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:
- Hold Right to Work in the UK.
- Hold an Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service or be willing to apply for one.
- Provide two professional references covering the last two years.
