About the Role

Prospero Teaching is seeking an experienced and passionate GCSE Maths & English Tutor to join our team in Liverpool and St Helens, starting in January 2026. This role involves delivering 1:1 GCSE Maths and English lessons to students in the area. It is ideal for a tutor who can adapt their teaching style to meet individual learning needs and help students build confidence, improve subject knowledge, and achieve academic success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver tailored GCSE Maths and English lessons, adjusting content and pace to suit each student's unique learning style.
  • Help students develop subject knowledge, study skills, and boost exam confidence.
  • Create a safe and supportive learning environment while building positive rapport with students.
  • Monitor progress and provide regular, constructive feedback to parents/carers or other professionals.
  • Prepare and implement structured learning plans, including a therapeutic approach where appropriate.

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience teaching or tutoring Maths and/or English.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Ability to work independently and manage flexible schedules.

Desirable Qualifications

  • QTS or PGCE in Secondary Education.
  • Experience working with learners with SEN (Autism, ADHD, SEMH).

Sessions typically take place during school hours, with occasional after-school or evening opportunities.
