Area: Leeds, West Yorkshire

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Type: Full-time, Long-term

Rate: £80 - £120 per day (dependent on experience and responsibilities)

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm

About the School

We are partnering with a fantastic specialist school in Leeds that supports students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school is dedicated to providing a nurturing and inclusive environment where students facing emotional and behavioral challenges can thrive. As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students to support their emotional well-being and academic progress. The school fosters a safe and positive space, helping students to develop resilience, improve social skills, and overcome barriers to learning.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
  • Assist in behavior management strategies and social skills development.
  • Help create and maintain a calm, structured learning environment for students.
  • Support the class teacher and SENCO in delivering tailored interventions and learning plans.
  • Work alongside other professionals to support students' emotional and academic progress.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience working with students with SEMH or similar additional needs.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to manage challenging behaviors.
  • A commitment to inclusive education and supporting student development.
  • Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
  • Resilience, a calm approach, and the ability to remain professional in challenging situations.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Hold Right to Work in the UK.
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service OR be willing to process a new application.
  • Provide two professional child-related references.
