Job description

Prospero Teaching are looking for passionate and experienced Learning Mentors to support young people in the Bridport area. This is a varied and rewarding role, offering both part-time and full-time opportunities, with the chance to work with learners ranging from EYFS to Post-16.

You’ll be supporting young people who have often been out of school for a prolonged period , helping them re-engage with education-primarily in Maths and English . Many of the learners have additional needs , so a compassionate and adaptable approach is essential.

As a Tutor, you will:

  • Deliver tailored learning support in Maths and English
  • Work 1:1 or in small groups across a range of age groups
  • Build positive relationships to foster engagement and progress
  • Support learners with SEN, SEMH, trauma, or those at risk of exclusion
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to learner development plans
  • About you:

    We welcome applications from professionals with at least 1 year of experience in UK schools in roles such as:

  • Tutor
  • Teacher
  • Cover Supervisor
  • Teaching Assistant
  • ELSA
  • 1:1 Support Worker
  • Or similar educational roles
  • Experience working with learners with additional needs is essential .

    Essential & Desirable Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with young people Experience of working with learners with SEN
  • To be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:

  • Hold right to work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide references upon request
  • Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
