Prospero Teaching is recruiting confident and proactive Unqualified Teachers to support secondary schools in the Portsmouth area. This role involves stepping into the classroom in the teacher's absence, delivering pre-prepared lesson materials, and ensuring pupils remain engaged and focused throughout the lesson.
You will be responsible for leading classes, maintaining behaviour expectations, and supporting students with their work. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain practical classroom experience and is ideal for graduates, aspiring teachers, teaching assistants, tutors, youth workers, sports coaches, or anyone with experience working with young people. Work is available on a full-time or flexible day-to-day basis depending on your availability.
The Role:
- Deliver pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects
- Lead classes independently and maintain classroom routines
- Manage behaviour in line with school expectations
- Support students with tasks and general learning queries
- Cover a variety of subjects as required
- Provide cover for both pre-booked and short-notice absences
- Follow safeguarding and school policies consistently
Ideal Candidate:
- Experience working with young people (schools, coaching, tutoring, mentoring, etc.)
- Confident managing a classroom environment
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Calm, adaptable, and professional approach
- Comfortable covering different subjects
