Prospero Teaching are working in close partnership with Local Authorities, SEND teams and schools across the UK. Due to increased demand, we are currently recruiting KS3 SEN Tutors to provide one-to-one or small group tuition for pupils with Special Educational Needs in the Newcastle area.

The Role

As a KS3 SEN Tutor, you will deliver personalised education programmes to pupils who are temporarily out of mainstream school. You will plan and deliver engaging, structured lessons tailored to each learner’s needs, abilities and EHCP targets. This role is ideal for qualified teachers, experienced tutors, or professionals who have worked with children in a therapeutic or alternative education setting. Your support will help students re-engage with learning, rebuild confidence, and maintain educational progress while they await a suitable school placement.

  • Pay rate: Up to £30 per hour (negotiable)

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver one-to-one or small group tuition to KS3 pupils with SEN
  • Support core subjects and functional learning, tailored to individual needs
  • Build confidence, routines and positive engagement with learning
  • Adapt teaching strategies to suit pupils with ASD, ADHD, GLD and behavioural needs
  • Create a calm, supportive and motivating learning environment

Requirements

  • A recognised education or child-related qualification (or relevant experience)
  • UK classroom or tutoring experience, ideally at KS3 level
  • Experience working with pupils with SEND, including challenging behaviour
  • A creative, patient and flexible approach to teaching
  • Ability to think outside the box and adapt learning to individual needs

Eligibility

To be considered for this role, you must:

  • Have the right to work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply for one)
  • Be able to provide two years of references covering education or employment
