About the Role: Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated and passionate Head of Year to join a secondary school in the Knowsley area in December 2025. You will be responsible for the pastoral and academic leadership, overseeing student welfare, behaviour, attendance, and progress.

Location: Knowsley, L35

Start Date: December 2025

Contract Type: Temporary, Long Term

Working Hours: Full time, 8:00am - 4.00pm

Salary: Paid to scale

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage student welfare, wellbeing, and safeguarding.
  • Monitor and manage student behaviour, using school systems to track and address issues.
  • Work to prevent and address bullying, keeping detailed records of incidents.
  • Collaborate with the year team, including tutors, and other school leaders to ensure consistency and high standards.
  • Provide leadership and vision for the year group, setting high expectations for students and staff.
  • Lead and coordinate the year team, potentially holding regular meetings and providing professional development.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as Head of Year in a UK secondary school.
  • Up-to-date Safeguarding training (desirable, but not essential as training can be provided).
  • Right to Work in the UK.
  • Enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service, or willingness to apply for a new one.
  • Ability to provide two professional references/cover last 24 months worked.
