Prospero Teaching are partnered with Local Councils, SEND teams, and schools throughout the UK. We are currently experiencing a high demand for one-to-one and small-group SEND Specialist Tutors who have experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in the Jarrow area.
You may be an experienced tutor, teacher, teaching assistant, or have previous experience working with children and young people in a therapeutic or educational setting. A key part of your role will be to support the pupil's learning and wellbeing, provide structure and routine, and help maintain their educational development while a suitable school or educational placement is identified.
We can accommodate both part-time and full-time hours, making this a flexible opportunity for tutors looking to make a real difference to the educational journey of young people with SEND in Jarrow.
Contract/Position Details:
- Location - Various locations across Jarrow
- Position - SEND Specialist Tutor
- Type of work - Contract
- Start date - ASAP
- Setting - either within the student's home or in the community (learning hub/library)
- Duration - Until the pupil is able to find a suitable school placement
- Contract type - Temporary
- Full-time/part-time availability, ranging from 6-15 hours p/w per student
- Rate of pay - up to £30 per hour (negotiable)
Your role with us:
- Deliver one-to-one or small group tuition supporting students with SEND, focusing on building confidence, teaching life skills, how to safely access the community, simple cooking and fostering independence.
- Develop and implement personalised lesson plans that address individual learning gaps.
- Monitor student progress and provide regular, constructive feedback to students and their families.
- Create a supportive and motivating learning environment to help students re-build their confidence in learning.
- Complete daily attendance and weekly reports.
Experience, Training and Qualifications of the SEND Specialist Tutor:
- Children related/Education qualification
- Possess UK classroom teaching experience
- Be creative, patient and willing to think outside of the box
- Have experience working with students with SEND including ASD, ADHD, GLD and challenging behaviours
To be eligible for this role, the potential SEND Specialist Tutor must:
- Hold the right to work in the UK
- Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
- Be able to reference the last two years of education/employment
