The focus of this role is to re-engage young people with learning, build emotional resilience, and develop essential functional and life skills in a safe, structured, and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver bespoke intervention sessions that support emotional wellbeing, resilience, and re-engagement
- Build a consistent, trusting relationship with the young person
- Implement self-regulation strategies and promote positive behaviour and confidence
- Collaborate with families and professionals to ensure cohesive support
- Track and report progress in both emotional development and engagement
Requirements
- Experience with SEMH or similar behavioural/emotional needs
- Ability to build rapport quickly and create a safe learning space
- Calm, nurturing, patient approach to managing behaviour and emotional dysregulation
- Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
Desirable Experience
- Youth work or PRU background
- Training in de-escalation (Team Teach, MAPA, etc.)
- Knowledge of restorative practice and trauma-informed approaches
Any adult working with children and vulnerable young people are responsible for safeguarding and protecting the welfare of the children and young people.
