Prospero Teaching are seeking dedicated Maths and English Tutors to support GCSE students with Special Educational Needs across Merseyside. In this rewarding role, you will work one-to-one with learners who require tailored academic support, helping them build confidence, develop core skills, and reach their potential.

Our students may present with Autism, ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, or be working below expected levels. Your support will play a key role in bridging learning gaps and re-engaging students with education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver personalised one-to-one GCSE Maths or English tuition tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Adapt lesson content, teaching methods, and pace to support different learning styles and emotional regulation.
  • Support students in developing subject knowledge, study skills, and exam confidence.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships that foster a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Track progress and provide constructive feedback to parents, carers, and professionals where required.

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum one year of experience teaching or tutoring Maths or English.
  • Experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs in a one-to-one or small group setting.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one.

Desirable Qualifications

  • PGCE in Secondary Education and/or Qualified Teacher Status.
  • Experience working with students with Autism, ADHD, or Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.
